When doing some recent upgrade work to our apartment foyer and hallway, I decided that now would be good time to increase the lighting in the foyer that was provided by a small 7" version of this Artcraft flushmount (the foyer area was underlit, but the small units worked fine for the adjacent hallway). I was very glad to see that Artcraft was still around and I purchased the "medium" sized unit (15" across) to replace the small foyer unit. The fixture has a great art deco style look and finish that goes well with our pre-war NYC apartment, and the high-efficiency halogen bulbs with regular screw base provide lots of light to the foyer (we had an electrician who was doing work in the apartment install the light, so that I really cannot speak as to the instructions and assembly). We also bought the "small" 12.75" semi-flush mount for a smaller hallway in another part of the apartment and it looks great too and provides a sense of continuity that I like. The fact that I paid about 1/2 the price that the fixture was selling for in the well-known upscale home and lighting store in the neighborhood was an added bonus that confirmed I was getting good value. I strongly disagree with a prior review that panned the look/quality of the fixture and who felt it was only fit for use in his garage.
